My Adventures in Macarons!, : The History part 1
So one day in August i was looking at an Hedgehog Blog (rhyme!) and I saw a little ad that said something about the best deals in my city. Amazingly it showed these cute dainty little sandwich cookie. I thought they were Whoopie pies. So I left-hand clicked on it and it said the name: MACARONS. So automatically I did search query, and up came so many sites about them. i decided that first I should go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaron. So began my journey. I learned as much as I could about them.
Once I finished learning I decided to find a recipe. A chocolate one. I did and I had to rush to the store with my shopping list:
Cocoa Powder, Piping Bag, Piping tip, Almond Powder (this stuff is pretty darn expensive), Parchment Paper and Dark Chocolate. I was so excited to go home and get baking. I didn't have my blog then, so I just got to baking. Now I had never worked with meringue before. Well, I had but not using the method my recipe called for... so I began to make the meringue and I have had no experiance with this type so this definetly messed it up... But, I did not know that. Then I sifted and shook and folded my ingredents in. Piped and let them set...
Once I put them in the oven and began to wait for the yummy deliciousness that was soon to come. Little did I know that would not happen. Once I took them out they looked nothing like what I had seen and learned about. The result: a flat sticky cakelike mess all over my pans. I decided since they were unuseable so I broke them into pices and ate them as cereal. They were pretty good. I just wished that they were PRETTY and GOOD. And that became my quest to make the perfect one.

To Make Candy-ish Soap
(left to right) Pink and White turtle, Pink, White, and Blue Bar, Green and Yellow Turtle, Green and Yellow Frog and I am currently using a Yellow frog. Which all are scented Peppermint. Making soap is basiclly easy to make and all that you need is:
- The Soap mold
- Glycerin soap clear and white.( I prefer clear because it looks soo much like candy, TIP: If you use a 3-layer using white, white, clear.)
- A spray bottle of rubbing alchohol
- Microwave-safe bowl
- Fragrance and dye
What you need to do is melt the glycerin for about 10- 20 seconds per 2x3 in bar. As soon as you take it out of the microwave add the fragrance and color. Stir them pour into molds. Spray rubbing alchohol over the top, and let it sit. To take it out turn the mold upside-down and tap the mold and it sould pop out. Wrap the soap in plastic wrap to preserve it. I heard that you can take the scrap of soap that you end up throwing away , melt it in a pot with water and pour into mold do the same as above. I tried it (sorry I don't have pictures...) and it worked I just had to freeze it to get it out of the mold. It worked though.
